Presentation Highlights Innovative Methods for Distance Learning Organizations to Identify At-Risk Students and Track Progress

ARLINGTON, Va. – June 15, 2009 – Starfish Retention Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of student success solutions, announced today that the company will present at the Distance Learning Administration Conference 2009, June 21-24, 2009 in St. Simons Island, Ga. The session will focus on the latest technology trends that distance learning organizations are responding to as they manage a diverse and changing online student population.

The Starfish presentation entitled “Identify, Track and Support Distance Learning Students with Starfish” will be held on June 23, 2009 at 10 am. As online programs continue to grow in popularity, institutions are discovering new ways to identify, track and retain distance learning students. The presentation will discuss how technology can help gather actionable data, identify underperforming students in real time, notify the right individuals to a student concern, and intervene and help an online student.

Sponsored by the Online Journal of Distance Learning Administration and The University of West Georgia, the Distance Learning Administration Conference 2009 gathers representatives from the leading distance education programs throughout the country to discuss and share best practices in the field.

Accessible with a single log-in to an institution’s course management system (e.g., Blackboard, WebCT or Angel), Starfish EARLY ALERT™ is an early warning and student tracking system that makes it possible for instructors, advisors and academic staff to identify at-risk students in real time. Starfish CONNECT™, an education networking support system, helps students access a personal contact list of instructors, advisors and counselors who are dedicated to helping them succeed. Together, the systems generate valuable performance data for the institution that helps optimize future service offerings.

“Starfish Retention Solutions is honored to participate in the annual DLA conference,” said David Yaskin, CEO & founder of Starfish Retentions Solutions, Inc. “Distance learning organizations have rapidly embraced the idea of leveraging technology to identify and support at-risk students. Through our presentation, we look forward to sharing our experiences with the community.”
